Repairs & Diagnosis
If the door’s structure is sound and the issue is mechanical — springs, cables, rollers, opener — repair is almost always the right call. If three or more panels are damaged, the door is over 20 years old, and the repair cost exceeds 60% of a new door, replacement may offer better long-term value. Our technicians always give you honest pricing for both options.
Noise usually indicates worn or dry rollers, loose hardware, or lack of lubrication on hinges, springs, and tracks. A tune-up — lubrication, hardware tightening, and roller inspection — resolves most noise issues quickly and affordably.
This typically indicates a broken or weakened spring that can no longer carry the door’s full weight, a cable problem, or the opener’s travel limit being incorrectly set. Our technicians diagnose this within minutes of arrival.
Yes. Ontario winters are particularly hard on torsion springs — metal fatigue accelerates below freezing. Cable corrosion, roller stiffening, and bottom seal cracking are also common cold-weather failures. We see a significant increase in spring and cable calls every November through February.
Do not attempt this. A door off its tracks is under enormous spring tension and can drop suddenly, causing serious injury. Call us immediately — track realignment is a same-day repair we handle safely with the right tools.
Once per year is the standard recommendation for a residential door used 3–5 times per day. Our 25-point annual maintenance visit catches developing problems before they become failures and keeps your door running quietly and safely.
Springs & Cables
Extremely dangerous. Torsion springs are wound to tremendous tension and can cause severe injury or death if they release unexpectedly. Spring repair must only be performed by a trained technician using calibrated winding bars and proper safety equipment. Do not attempt this yourself.
Standard torsion springs are rated for approximately 10,000 cycles — roughly 7 years for a household using the door 4 times per day. High-cycle springs rated at 30,000–50,000 cycles are available and can last 20+ years. We recommend the upgrade for high-usage households.
We strongly recommend it. Both springs experience identical wear cycles and fatigue at the same rate. When one breaks, the other is typically within months of the same failure. Replacing both at once saves a second call, ensures proper door balance, and costs significantly less in combined labour.
A door hanging at an angle almost always indicates a broken or slipped lift cable on one side. This is a safety emergency — do not operate the door. Call us immediately for same-day cable repair.
Openers & Technology
A humming opener that does not move the door usually indicates a stripped drive gear, a disconnected trolley carriage, or the door itself being physically prevented from moving by a broken spring or cable. This is a same-day repair in almost all cases.
Start by replacing the batteries. If that does not help, try reprogramming the remote using the LEARN button on the motor unit. If neither works, the opener’s logic board or antenna may be failing — call us for a diagnostic visit.
Many modern openers from LiftMaster and Chamberlain are compatible with the myQ platform, which integrates with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple HomeKit. We advise on whether your opener is compatible or recommend an upgrade during our visit.
Most openers resume normal operation once power is restored. If the remote is unresponsive after an outage, try reprogramming it. If the door is off its travel limits, call us — forcing a misaligned opener damages the drive system.
A quality opener lasts 10–15 years with proper maintenance. Factors that shorten lifespan include an unbalanced door putting extra load on the motor, infrequent lubrication, and very heavy daily usage cycles.
If the opener is under 8 years old and the repair cost is under 50% of a new unit, repair is almost always the better choice. Our technicians give you an honest assessment — we do not push replacements when a repair will do the job.
New Doors & Installation
A standard single or double door installation takes 3–6 hours including old door removal, track setup, spring installation, opener integration, and final balance testing. Add 1–2 hours if a new opener is also being installed.
Insulated steel is the most popular choice. It offers strength, low maintenance, and insulation values up to R-18 — keeping your garage significantly warmer in winter and reducing heating costs for attached garages. We recommend a minimum R-12 for GTA homes.
Yes. Old door removal and disposal is included in every new door installation quote. No extra charge, no trip to the dump required.
Most standard door selections are available for installation within 3–7 business days. Custom sizes, colours, or glass configurations may require 2–4 weeks. We confirm timelines during your free in-home consultation.
In most cases yes. We source replacement panels from major manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers matched to your door’s brand, style, texture, colour, and insulation specification. For discontinued models, we work with specialty suppliers to find the closest available match.

Our emergency response target is 60–90 minutes. Actual response time varies by location and demand — we give you an honest estimated arrival time when you call, not a vague window
